Mandatory Procedures Following A Positive Substance Abuse Test
- Donor is immediately removed from safety sensitive functions in addition to business policy requirements.
- Donor must see a substance abuse professional (SAP) for an evaluation.
- Donor must undergo and complete andy treatment program that is recommend by the SAP.
- Donor must have a verified negative Return-to-Duty screen, prior to returning to safety sensitive functions.
- SAP is required by Federal Regulation to assign at least 6 and as many as 12, unannounced follow-up drug screens in the next 12 months. These are in addition to any times the donor is selected at random.
- If the Donor fails another drug screen during the next 122 months, the SAP may extend the follow-up testing for 60 months.
- The SAP or affilate clinic or hospital is prohibited from doing any of the drug screening/ collection. This is viewed as a conflict of interest.
