Please contact your compliance services rep directly if you need assistance or have any questions. This procedure needs to be done correctly and documented in your records for your protection.

Mandatory Procedures Following A Positive Substance Abuse Test

  1. Donor is immediately removed from safety sensitive functions in addition to business policy requirements.
  2. Donor must see a substance abuse professional (SAP) for an evaluation.
  3. Donor must undergo and complete andy treatment program that is recommend by the SAP.
  4. Donor must have a verified negative Return-to-Duty screen, prior to returning to safety sensitive functions.
  5. SAP is required by Federal Regulation to assign at least 6 and as many as 12, unannounced follow-up drug screens in the next 12 months. These are in addition to any times the donor is selected at random.
  6. If the Donor fails another drug screen during the next 122 months, the SAP may extend the follow-up testing for 60 months.
  7. The SAP or affilate clinic or hospital is prohibited from doing any of the drug screening/ collection. This is viewed as a conflict of interest.
